I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Colorado (PSY-4625). I earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Nebraska, a Master’s degree in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Maryland, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Brigham Young University. I have provided therapy and psychological services in multiple settings, including university counseling centers, community mental health, residential treatment facilities, and private practice. Across these wide-ranging contexts, I have worked with individuals representing diverse cultural identities, personal histories, and life struggles. My work is strength-based and draws heavily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Interpersonal Process Therapy.
Our first meeting focuses on understanding what’s bringing you in and identifying what would feel most helpful moving forward. Sessions are typically a balance of reflection, skill-building, and practical problem-solving, shaped by your goals. Many of the people I work with are capable, thoughtful individuals who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward. Some people come in for focused, short-term work, while others choose longer-term therapy depending on their goals and circumstances.
Over the past 15+ years, I have provided services to individuals, couples, families, and groups experiencing the challenges that life inevitably brings. While my work spans a wide range of concerns, I bring particular depth of experience in the following areas:
- Mood and anxiety-related concerns
- ADHD and executive functioning difficulties
- Relationship and communication challenges
- Stress, burnout, and life transitions
- Anger and emotional regulation difficulties
- Sexual and intimacy concerns
- Academic and work-related challenges
- Identity, values, and self-direction concerns
Outside of my professional work, I spend most of my time with my wife and children. We enjoy being outdoors—hiking, playing sports, and paddle boarding—as well as spending time inside building Legos, reading, and watching movies, especially science fiction and fantasy. I’ve lived in many parts of the country, including California, Utah, Michigan, Maryland, Nebraska, Arizona, and Kentucky. I graduated from high school in Longmont, Colorado, and my family and I are happy to call Northern Colorado home.
